Star Trek: The Next Generation (sometimes reffered to as ST:TNG) was first aired the week of September 28, 1987. The series premier was the episodeEncounter at Farpoint which was a two parter. The first episode was watched by millions of people around North America.

Star Trek: The Next Generation takes place in the 24th century which is about 80 years after the time of the original series. Although the technology has changed, Starfleet's mission is still to 'Seek out new life and new civilazations'. That is exactly what the Star Trek: The Next Generation series is about.

In 1991 Star Trek: The Next Generation celebrated the airing of the 100th episode (Redemption). That is 21 more episodes than the original series but ST:TNG ended after 176 which is 97 episodes more than the original! Star Trek also celebrated the 25th anniversery that year. For the first time ever, the cast from both the Original series and the ST:TNG series got together.

Also in 1991 Gene Rodenberry died and was replaced by Rick Berman who continued Star Trek: The Next Generation for 3 excellent seasons. The whole world was saddened by Roddenberry's death but the series went on.

In 1993 (end of 6th season) a new contract was signed to make one more season and some motion pictures. The seventh season was probably the best of all. Every Trekker was waiting for the last episode 'ALL GOOD THINGS...' which aired on the week of May 23rd 1994.

Star Trek: The Next Generation might be over but it will never be forgotten.
